25+ Years Experience
Toni Ashmore is the manager of the Cancer Psychosocial Service, based in the Canberra Region Cancer Centre at The Canberra Hospital. She graduated from Massey University, New Zealand with a Bachelor of Social Work in 1990 and since then has completed various post graduate diplomas in health and education, a Masters in Public Health by research, and finishing a Masters in Health Management this year. Toni has had experience working across a range of inpatient and outpatient oncology areas including medical oncology, radiation oncology, haematology and palliative care. Prior to her current role she has been in frontline and management roles in a range of health and social services across Australia and New Zealand. Toni also has spent time in private practice providing counselling and research and consultancy services.
Apart from social work practice, Toni enjoys the outdoors and although living in Australia, visits her home country of New Zealand regularly to catch up with family and take in the greenness! Toni also volunteers both locally and overseas regularly.
If Toni wasn’t a social worker, she would likely be an educator as she gains much in seeing others meet their potential.
