Christine will draw on the COSA guidelines for the psychosocial management of AYAs diagnosed with cancer, including conglomerate case studies, and discuss some recent reports findings around young people’s experience of moving to a telehealth model of psychosocial care during COVID, including recommendations for the future. Audience participation through Q+A is encouraged so that others can share their practice reflections on working with young people using telehealth, the challenges and benefits.

Christine Cotter has been a practising Social Worker for 14 years. After graduating from the University of Edinburgh, she moved to Australia in 2007 where she commenced her social work career at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, working within multi-disciplinary teams to provide psychosocial support to patients, their families and carers in both acute and sub-acute settings.

Christine has worked across various clinical areas including aged care, general medicine, rehabilitation, emergency department, however, worked in the Cancer Care service for 6 years, moving to the Youth Cancer Service in 2017. Christine joined Slater and Gordon Lawyers as the Queensland Manager of Social Work Services in February 2021, providing free social work assistance primarily to the firm’s injured and ill clients.
